S2: Please start doing your fucking jobs
There has been a rare but recurring bug going around for months now involving peoples keyboards randomly not working during games. Basically at any point during the game your entire keyboard still stop responding to commands. The only quick known way to fix this is to use your mouse to click on an ability after which keyboard functionality returns to normal. This can happen anywhere from once every few games to several times per game for some people.
I don’t really think I need to even address how game-changing this can be… imagine you are tempest and after you blink into a group of enemy heroes during a push your keyboard stops working thus preventing you from ULTing quickly. You spam the keyboard shortcut a few more times before you realize it’s just not working… after which you scramble and try to click on the icon with your mouse only to discover that YOU’RE ALREADY DEAD BECAUSE S2 HASN’T FIXED A POTENTIALLY GAME CHANGING BUG.
But wait I spoke too soon [S2]Shawn was made aware of the bug and then proceeds to console the player base by saying that he’s “…really not optimistic about fixing this unless someone shows me a video or describes to me a way of doing it on command, though. :/”
So basically unless to find out exactly what causes it and make a video of it then they’re “not optimistic” about solving this. But what does this mean? Surely it means that S2 is trying hard to fix this significant problem with their game but needs our guidance to expedite the process right?
But wait here comes [S2]IAmRoot to clear up the matter… he says “It’s impossible to look over hundreds of thousands of lines of code for something that breaks <0.1% of the time, especially when the community constantly demands new features.”

So basically what they’re saying now is that they’re not going to bother trying to fix glaring problems with the game as it is because people would rather have new items and heroes? Also consider that no one had this problem until a few months ago. Clearly S2 must have fucked something up along the way and now they claim its impossible for them to figure out what it was……
This is why even though S2 has proven their our “brahs” they still haven’t won my respect as a developer. Someone needs to tell these guys that the onus is on THEM to fix the problems that didn’t exist before THEY fucked something up. Sure we could try to document exactly what is causing this and send them a video and how to fix it but oh wait it’s almost like then we’d be doing their fucking jobs for them.
The sad part is that S2 still hasn’t even acknowledged that it’s THEIR PROBLEM. There are people still running around thinking that their computers or keyboards are messed up (I bought a new keyboard because I thought mine was broke when this bug first started).

Thankfully ‘Thobias’ from the community has stepped up to figure out one of the causes of this (of course there could be more). But of course it’s been more than 10 days since his post and S2 still hasn’t even acknowledged that this problem exists. Are you guys kidding me? One of your loyal players figured out what the problem was and you still can’t even produce a fix or even a message telling us that you’re working on fixing it.. how about just a nice thank you message to him for doing your jobs for you.

but oh wait you guys are busy working on the map editor.. and I’m sure team match making will solve this problem too

raven who cares about this random bug?
matchmaking is way more important
nice job pubbius u dumpy newb this was written by hammy
WTF HAMMY POSTED SOMETHING??
hahah i shoulda know from those classy spongebob and garfield pics sigh
was trying to be angry in the spirit of raven but couldnt summon the sheer hate that he can…
either way people that are being affected by this should know its a game bug and that it’s not being addressed
ROFL YEAH THEY’RE SO LAZY
GET A CLUE U FUCKIN RETARD, YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHIN ABOUT PROGRAMMING
I HAVE THIS FUCKING BUG!
God this shit always happens to me and then people flame me and don’t believe me that its not my fucking fault that i cant cast motherfucking spells. The shittiest part about it is that you don’t even know that there’s something wrong until you’re in a fight and try to use a skill by which point its too late and you’re fucked.
The only way i knew of fixing this (until i read here to manually click) is to press enter which for me brought up a pause vote, a concede vote, or does nothing (usually its pause vote).
I always thought that it was because of the mods I was using or something, because I don’t have the standard UI in-game. I Thought that because of that there was some kind of bug where some menu that I can’t see opened which is why when I press enter it goes into pause vote or something.
its pretty weird how the game works fine then they do an update for something completely unrelated and it breaks something new lol
i have some bugs too
sometimes my cursor randomly turns into an ammunition (bullets) icon for a few seconds (i have no idea, serious)
and also 15% of the time when i hold down t to talk it doesnt actually work. and im pushing it down super hard so its not my keyboard
heh pubbius said super hard heh
s2 not caring about bugs unless they are major? whats new
This is a stupid post. As a programmer I’m aware of how difficult it is to fix a bug that you don’t know how to replicate. “I can but I won’t” ? Can you read? He clearly states “It’s impossible.”
If you’re consistently getting this bug that it’s so serious an issue, start recording your games and then post up the video when it happens. I personally haven’t experienced it.
dotally rad made a difference, soon after this post was made, a dev said they should fix it next patch

then my job here is done

This doesnt solve much of the issue though because i get this bug without doing any of those things.
I think what JamesTowN was getting at is that the bug was probably caused by the implementation of a community mod. It may have had some strange interactions with other aspects of the code that caused the bug. If the underlying compatibility issues are fixed, then the bug itself should be fixed as well.
I’m not a programmer/support guy, so I can’t speak in-depth on the issue, but when Shawn and IAmRoot commented on the issue, all they meant was that they needed more information on the bug. Shawn specifically has been spending the past few weeks dedicated to resolving crashes and optimizing the game, and S2 isn’t exactly a big company, so it’s really just a matter of resource allocation. Either way, this isn’t an excuse in any way, but just a speculative explanation (as I’m not a programmer).
