DotA 2 to continue slowly adding Beta invites | remodeled DotA 2 heroes
Icefrog dismissed rumors that this week Beta invites would be distributed en masse. Many have been anxiously awaiting these invites since the close of The International three weeks ago. Instead he restated that Dota 2 Beta invites will continue being distributed gradually:
We aren’t planning to have one big beta invite tomorrow. Right now the beta primarily consists of the tournament teams, Dota1 beta testers, and other players that might compete in upcoming events. We will gradually give access to more and more players over the coming weeks and months. The Dota2 development process, like with Dota1, is focused on getting incremental player feedback to help us prioritize features and functionality in the game. There won’t be an immediate million person invite all at once, but rather a gradual buildup as we develop new features and test various aspects of the game in order to to make it an enjoyable experience for an expanding player base.
Also, Valve has been working to redesign the look of certain heroes based on community feedback. Here is the new Tinker:

Well clearly in this situation, you waterheads don’t understand why icefrog is making the heroes look the way that they do. It’s far easier to issue warnings and judge rulings on brighter hero models for starters, and second, it will draw more attention to the game.

yeah ok more like valve doesn’t want to have millions of people downloading dota2 at once & shitting up the steam servers, so they send the keys out in batches. steam’s most popular game only gets 60k daily user peaks (about the same as hon) so I hope valve is prepared for the 6 figure(+ ?) numbers they will be pulling in with dota2.
