HoN Fayde Hero Guide

Fayde

Fayde is a new melee Agility hero in Heroes of Newerth version 0.3.4.  Though all her abilities are slightly different than Nerubian Assassin’s (NA), this hero basically occupies the same role in HoN as NA does in Dota: a hero-killing, ganking Agility hero.  Instead of Mana Burn, Fayde has Slice, an ability that does damage and burns mana of units in a radius around her.  Instead of Impale, Fayde has Burning Shadows, an ability that stuns targets in a direction just like Impale, and also deals damage to them by creating an image of that hero that attacks them.  Instead of Spiked Carapace, Fayde has Dark Shield, a survival ability that gives her evasion on activation instead of armor as a passive like Carapace.  Finally, instead of NA’s Vendetta, Fayde has a long duration windwalk ability called Reflection that is great for ganking and hero killing.  Here is a closer look at each ability:

Slice (q)

Fayde spins with her blade,  dealing magic damage to and burning mana of units in a small radius around her.  This is a good ability to control your lane with by last hitting creeps while simultaneously harassing nearby enemy heroes.  It is also a good ability to help kill heroes when ganking.

Burning Shadows (w)

Burning Shadows stuns enemy heroes in a line coming out from Fayde.  It also creates an uncontrollable image of enemy heroes it hits that attack them for magic damage.  Unlike Nerubian Assassin’s Impale in Dota, Burning Shadows does not hit creeps, only heroes.  This is a valuable stun that can hit multiple heroes, damage them, and also give Fayde time to move closer in to use Slice for more damage.

Scythe Stance & Shadow Stance (e)

Toggles between two “stance” modes which directly effect Faydes other abilities.  Scythe mode is more directed towards physical damage attributions whereas Shadow Stance is more directed towards magical damage attributions.  This ability passively reduces damage based on the stance of up to 200 at level 4 which is actually a great ability in the meta-game phase as well can make a significant impact in the late game phase

Reflection (ultimate) (r)

Reflection makes Fayde invisible for a long duration and creates an illusion of her that deals 100% damage and takes 300% damage.  Fayde is credited for any experience gains this image makes that she would not have gotten herself from being nearby.  Fayde can also attack up to 5 times without losing invisiblity, after which the image disappears and invisibility is removed.

This is a great confusion spell, and can for things such as ganking other lanes while making your enemies think you are not missing (because of the image).  This is a lot like NA’s Vendetta, good for sneaking up on heroes to kill them, except you can also do damage with the image created at the beginning of your invisibility.

Item Recommendation

Codex

Due to the changes to codex it is worth it to get 1 level of it due to Fayde’s extreme burst damage.  However anything more than level 1 is hardly necessary unless you manage to get codex extremely early enough that you do not need survivability  or extra DPS from auto attacking

Nullfire Blade

Purge to catch those fleeing heroes and adding to your mana burn from Slice plus your images burn mana as well; overall a good item for any image hero.

Geometer’s Bane

Let’s see… Geometer’s Bane & Reflection & Burning shadows & your actual hero = 5 Fayde’s.  Yeah.  Plus that extra movespeed and +stats will help your images a lot.

Early Game

Early game you should be focused on last hitting, if a hero steps to close  to deny a creep use your Slice to smack them as well as last hit the creep for effective farming, if you’re in a dual lane that can easily play aggressively look for ideal situations to initiate on your opponents.  If you are having a difficult lane to go against you can attempt to pull the creeps if you are in the appropriate lane or you can play passive aggressive, drawing aggro from creeps into tower range in order to last hit with a bit less harassment.

Middle Game

If you have a Nullfire blade you should be hunting down heroes, especially if there are any INT heroes.  With the mana burn combined from your images as well as your hero and Slice it will render a lot of mana dependent heroes either useless or extremely crippled.  In team fights make sure your Burning Shadows hits more than 1 hero in order to maximize his effectiveness and remember that you can evade 100% of melee attacks by using your Dark Shield

Late Game

By now you should either be attempting to dish out fast damage on the opposing carry or isolating a hero which is essential to winning team fights (Tempest, Behemoth, Magmus etc.) With your ultimate and Burning Shadows and if you do have Assassin’s Shroud you can dish out extremely high amounts of damage in a short amount of time, aim more for +stats items since your images do not benefit from direct +damage items.

HoN Corrupted Disciple Hero Guide

Corrupted Disciple

Starting Attributes

Str – 21 – 1.9 per lvl

Agi – 22 – 2.5 per lvl (primary attribute)

Int – 19 + 1.8 per lvl

Range – 475

Damage – 44-52

Armor – 2.1

Movement Speed – 295

===================================================================================================

Spells

Electric Tide

The Corrupted Disciple unleashes an Electric Tide from his Orb, dealing damage to everyone around himself as the Tide expands and contracts.

Activation
Deals 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 to 70 / 105 / 140 / 175 Magic damage to enemies who get hit by the moving Tide. Enemies take more damage the further away they are and damage is dealt on both expansion and contraction of the Tide.

Type – Magic

Radius – 700

Mana Cost – 125

Cooldown – 16 seconds

Probably one of the most annoying early game spells which compliments Corrupted Disciple’s range.  Basically shoots out a circle from the hero and the farther they are from you the more damage they will take.  You often can pick off heroes running away with this spell properly timed and placed.

===================================================================================================

Corrupted Conduit

The Corrupted Disciple links himself with an enemy, draining their damage while enhancing his own.

Activation
Applies Corrupted Conduit (Enemy) to targeted Enemy Hero and Corrupted Conduit (Self) to yourself, linking both together and adding one charge per second, also gives sight of target
The link is broken if the enemy moves more then 700 units away from the Disciple, if the Disciple loses sight of him, or 50 / 100 / 150 / 200 total damage is drained. Drains 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 damage.

The lost or bonus damage is retained for 13 seconds after the link is broken.

Type – Magic

Range – 600

Cast – 1.0 seconds

Mana Cost – 20/30/40/50

Cooldown – 45/40/35/30 seconds

Such a fantastic spell at all points in the game especially on those DPS heroes and on forest ganks since it gives you vision of the target.  It drains the damage from the target hero and gives the damage to Corrupted Disciple.  However you have to be in a certain amount of range for the link to stay active meaning it should be a late-game fight when people stand or chase/attack or laning early it’s good to walk-attack.

===================================================================================================

Static Discharge

The Corrupted Disciple’s Orb charges his body with electricity, enhancing his movement speed while shocking enemies who try to cast spells on him.

Activation
Applies Static Discharge and deals 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 Magic damage to enemies who cast direct spells on the Disciple.

Static Discharge Effects
80% movement speed slow, decreasing over 0.3 / 0.6 / 0.9 / 1.2 seconds.

Passive Ability

3 / 6 / 9 / 12% Movement Speed

Any spell that is able to target a hero basically applies these effects to the hero targeting Corrupted Disciple making him a tad harder to kill.  It also increases his move speed which compliments his other abilities.

===================================================================================================

Overload

The Corrupted Disciple overloads his armor with electricity, jolting the lowest health target around him repeatedly, lowering its armor in the process.

Type – Physical

Cast Time – 1.0 seconds

Mana Cost – 100

Cooldown – 80/70/60 seconds

Activation
Shoots a jolt every 0.85 / 0.75 / 0.6 seconds that does 37.5 / 50 / 62.5 Physical damage to the lowest health target in a 525 area around the Disciple.
Applies Jolted for 3 seconds to the targeted unit. Adds a charge to Jolted every time the same unit is hit.

Overload lasts 20 / 25 / 30 seconds.

Jolted Effects
Armor Per Charge: -1

Great 1 on 1 skill, removes 1 armor per lightning attack and deals damage.  Not that useful in a huge amount of creeps though since it most likely will be hitting the creeps before it hits any heroes in the vicinity.

Item Recommendations

I prefer Ghost Marchers for the phase ability.  It gives extra movespeed for better chasing and his spells Overload and Corrupted Conduit and allows you to run through units also better for chasing as well as running away.  With his Static Discharge as well he gets more movement speed.

Frostburn gives more movespeed, slows the target being attacked which compliments all of his spells as well as his hero concept overall.  Probably a MUST item for him during the mid or early stages of late game where there is a lot of chasing and ganking being done.

Behemoth’s heart adds a great chunk of health which increases Corrupted Disciple’s survivability as well as Static Discharge since a lot of spells in this game are single target.  As well it increases Corrupted Disciple’s damage as a carry hero.

Wingbow is THE best damage item for agility heroes when the opposition is not hugely spell based.  Gives damage, agility, attack sped and evasion.

===================================================================================================

Early Game

I would highly suggest soloing middle, and in doing so go for Static Discharge at level 4, you only need Corrupted Conduit for vision.  Unless you are highly dominant in your lane and have a huge advantage I would stick to playing passive-aggresive.  This means that you should look for opportunities to last hit with Electric Tide as well as hitting the enemy hero and attacking the hero for a short few whacks before retreating.  If you are in a dual lane with a slower/stunner or someone who you can play super aggressive with I would pass on Static Discharge and max Corrupted Conduit ASAP.  A great early item is Helm of the Black Legion, it gives you health and blocks a bit of damage allowing you to chase farther and dive towers a tiny bit.  Regardless of solo or dual lane you should focus more on farming while looking for opportunities to kill.  If you are solo middle and have a bottle look for chances to gank either side with runes, especially haste and invisible runes.

Middle Game

You should be doing now what’s called Gank-Farming.  That is ganking a lane and then farming the lane once the target dies or has to back off.  You should carry around a teleport to counter gank or look for opportunities for clean-up on huge team fights, you should not be rushing into a huge fight like a barbarian.  Once you have HotBL/Frostburn & Ghost Marchers you should focus more on ganking, you can deal a great amount of DPS with Corrupted Conduit and Overload.   Remember that you gain a lot more gold and XP from killing heroes than killing creeps.

Late Game

By now you should just be roaming with the team either hunting the opposition or pushing lanes.  If you have to turtle make sure there are wards up for your farming spots and make use of static farming.  Kongor is always a good option if you are in a good spot, however be wary of the other team, I’ve seen many many games be lost over the desire to obtain Token of Life.  Remember to use Corrupted Conduit on an enemy DPSer in order to reduce their damage and increase theirs, however you should not necessarily focus on them first, without damage they may not be able to do much so instead you should focus on killing someone who’s more team oriented like Magmus, Tempest, Witch Slayer etc. so that it will be easier to kill the DPSer without being disabled etc.

Just in cased you missed it, DotA will have a reconnect tool soon & small update from Icefrog, CAPTURE THE POINT!!!

From Icefrog’s blog :

Varlock, the developer of the popular Ghost hosting bot, has done a successful concept test on this functionality and will work on implementing it for public use in the future. The technology is portable for Garena (or anything else in theory, if someone wants to port it) as well.

He wanted me to try to help him gauge interest level for his project. It would basically require the host to be using the tool on bnet, garena or any other hosting platform the feature is ported to. Any player that wants to be able to reconnect would have the custom reconnect tool running, but players who are not using the tool could still play in the same games.

The exact time and schedule for its release is not defined yet. The main reason for this post is to help get him feedback so he can decide how much interest people have in it and consider his schedule accordingly. If you have any thoughts you want to share with him, you can respond here and I’ll relay them to him or you can email him directly at hogantp@gmail.com

Thanks to Varlock for his continued efforts in the DotA hosting scene.

On Capture the Point:

Hey guys, I just want to share some small information about the upcoming patch. It is too early for me to give a complete list of features or changes to expect, so I’ll just be sharing a couple of small features as a sneak peak.

First, I’ve implemented a zoom mode for observers to allow spectators and shout casters to see a larger part of the battlefield rather than the current view.

The second is a Capture Point action style game mode. It is designed to be a short fun mode with lots of movement and action, as a break from the usual stuff. There will be many capture points (6+) spread around the map that, when captured, will provide various auras (Damage, Armor, Gold, Regen, Movement Speed, etc) for your team depending on which one is captured. The Capture Points all spawn after the first 10 minutes of the game. You gain control of a CP by standing on it for a certain amount of time (the more allies the faster). Capture Points can always be reclaimed by the enemy team after it is taken or it can also be interrupt during the capturing process itself. Keep in mind that all the mechanics and numbers are not final yet.

These are just two misc things in 6.67 that I wanted to share with you guys. There will of course be more work done on improving the current content with balancing and misc features. If there is something specific you want to see, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Update: I got some confused responses. The above is a game mode only, an optional function like -dm.

Of course being a beta tester I knew all this :P BUT WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!?

Well for the reconnection tool all I have to say is WHERE WAS THIS WHEN DOTA WAS THE FUCKING KING CHEESE AROUND AND NONE OF THIS HON/LOL/DEMI-GOD SHIT WAS RUNNING ABOUT?  Clearly they’re trying to salvage the appeal of the classic DotA in hope for the increased hype for Valve’s DotA.  Of course the chance of this being in the public domain is about as good as a chance of Lindsay Lohan being sexually appealing again, aka ZERO chance. Zing. Anywhoo since this will make leagues/competitive tournaments focus on battle.net as opposed to GGC where if you drop, you stay dropped expect Ghost++ to get a lot more hosting-bot focus in the near future.  BTW This program isn’t limited to DotA

As for Capture the Point it’s probably going to be a camp fest come public release time but hey, whatever floats peoples boats right? It’s gotta be a funtastic piece of fun.  I’ve yet to play it in beta but it’s sounded promising and beta has just barely scraped the barrel of goodies it can throw into the mode.

I ALMOST FORGOT! Cue the “child pron” jokes from -CP from all the 4chan kiddies who think they are significant in the world.  Child Porn is no joke people.  Seriously.

Icefrog plays hide & seek on getdota.com

WHO’S THAT POKEMON!?!?

So there’s been a teaser by icefrog, or at least that’s what it looks like on www.getdota.com, refreshing on it gives a pictures at time

What does this mean? Obviously that teaser video is legit with the Nightcrawler, but obviously there’s something else out there
