Spells

Flare

Gives sight in an AoE of 300 for 4 seconds as well as dealing 75/150/225/300 Magic damage to units and 25/50/75/100 to towers as well as slowing enemy units by 14/20/26/32%

Type – Magic

Range – 800

Radius – 300

Mana Cost – 120

Cooldown – 14 seconds

Good farming & harassing tool early as well as getting last hits on tower, great later on for chasing down heroes as well as keeping vision on an area for potential ganks & counter ganks.

===================================================================================================

Hollowpoint Shells

Gives a 25/30/35/40% chance for an attack to deal an additional 20/30/40/50 bonus physical damage as well as stunning the opponent for .05/.1/.2/.2 seconds

Great later game, it’s like Savage Mace almost without the true-strike ability and is such an annoying passive ability to go against.

===================================================================================================

Dead Eye

Gives an extra 60/120/180/240 attack range to Flint Beastwood

Ridiculous passive , at level 3 & 4 you can safely attack towers outside of their range, at level 4 Flint Beastwood has a range of 810, no one even comes close to hitting that range.

===================================================================================================

Money Shot

After 1.9s of channeling unleashes a massive shot that deals 355/505/665 damage and stuns for .2 seconds

Type – Superior Magic

Range – 1500/200/2500

Channeling Time – 1.9 seconds

Mana Cost – 175/275/375

Cooldown – 20/15/10 seconds

Think Scouts ultimate but keeps sight and stuns and you basically have his ultimate but it has a lot shorter cooldown

Item Recommendations

Geometers Bane is a great item, with 3 hard hitting images with 810 range late game is ridiculous, as well as hollowpoint shells working with your images.  Obvious item is obvious.

Assassin’s Shroud gets an honorary nod because well, it is still useful on Sniper in order to escape ganks effectively forcing the other team to buy wards/dust/gem and if farmed quickly enough can really propel sniper in his ability to farm due to pushing lanes without worry of invisible detection.

Since you will be getting Geometer’s Bane the Firebrand in frostburn won’t stack, thus Frostwolf Skull is a great slowing item for Beastwood, giving him much needed stats in all 3 attributes as well as the ability to slow on attack.

The other orb effect recommended is Shieldbreaker, due to hollowpoint shells & sniper’s sneakiness with long range, Beastwood can literally drop a hero before they know what’s hit them and run off with this in his arsenal.

The fact that Thunderclaw/Charged Hammer isn’t an orb effect in HoN is a carry’s dream.  Increases farm capability as well as adding huge attack speed allowing for more procs of hollowpoint shells.

Early Game

Beastwood ideally should solo middle, with his superior range to any hero with Dead Eye in combination with his superb attack animation, it makes Beastwood such a dominant lane controller.  Obviously his focus early on is getting those last hits and farming, alternatively he can be used to push effectively with Flare doing 100 damage to towers at level 4 also being a great nuke/chase down ability.

Middle Game

By now you should be gank-farming or totally farming if your team is starting to break since Beastwood, like DotA’s sniper, can carry a team hard if farmed enough.  However if your team hasn’t then towers should be pushed, Beastwood should be easily taking last hits on towers with Flare at level 4 doing 100 damage.  Carry around TP scrolls since you can TP, line up a Money Shot for potential kills on heroes ganking your team and then farm that lane etc.

Late Game

By now you should be purely going around with your team for fights, utilize Beastwood’s range to your potential, he is not a hero that stands in the fray and can take a beating.  Kongor is always effective at certain times with good vision, focus the other team’s carry or very effective team-fight heroes (Tempest, Hellbringer, Magmus etc.) but farming should almost ceast barring post-team fight and regardless a push should be attempted.

Flint Beastwood aka Dota’s Dwarven Sniper coming to HoN next

First of all, nice fucking name.  Good to see S2 following up Doctor Repulsor with another homerun.  Judging by those squints this Orc is straight outa Hong Kong.  He’s packing what looks to be like a pair of twin-barreled muskets (shotties don’t have that clicky thing up top, notice I’m a gun expert), and from the leak at pcgamer.com looks to be a direct port of Dota’s Dwarven Sniper.  I hate boring Agility heroes, but frankly this will keep the EM nerds happy and add to WaC’s arsenal of shit to carry me with.  Hopefully a fun hero like Pugna is coming next, though apparently Gyrocopter is all the rage right now.

Abilities Overview

  • Flare: Fire a flare at a position, dealing damage and leaving a slow-burning glow that slows enemies and provides sight.
  • Sharpshooter: Passively deal extra damage and a mini-stun on occasion.
  • Long Barrel: Passively increases attack range.
  • Focused Fire: After taking time to line a shot, Flint fires at a faraway enemy, dealing critical damage.
